The parliamentary network of the World Bank (WB) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) hailed, on Wednesday in Marrakech, Morocco’s efforts to promote the economic youth integration.
These statements came on the sidelines of a WB/IMF Parliamentary Network delegation’s visit to the Espace Emploi des Jeunes (EEJ) in Sidi Youssef Benali and the Centre d’Appui à l’Entrepreneuriat et au Développement Economique Local (CAEDEL) at the Cité d’Innovation,
“We are truly impressed” by Morocco’s “unique” experience in promoting employability and economic youth integration, and by the enthusiasm of young project holders who are “making history by inventing the future,” said Liam Byrne, chairman of the WB-IMF Parliamentary Network.
Accompanied by the Wali of the Marrakech-Safi Region and Governor of the Marrakech Prefecture, Karim Kassi-Lahlou, Byrne, who is also a member of the UK House of Commons, told M24 that Morocco has managed to integrate several components into its development system.
“Morocco has found a way to put all the pieces of the puzzle together and this is the story we want to tell and we need the world to support it with greater investment for the future,” he continued, saying he was “impressed” by young Moroccan project holders or project idea holders who are “making history by inventing the future”.
“Young Moroccans are smart and resilient. They know that the world is tough and competitive and that they need to invest in education,” he said, noting that EEJs and CAEDELs are “safe platforms where these young people can learn about the world of entrepreneurship.”
