On Tuesday, members of the Meknes prefectural judicial police arrested two suspects, aged 67 and 17, for their alleged involvement in the possession and sale of adulterated alcohol, the consumption of which led to the deaths of seven people.
Following these deaths and the poisoning of an eighth consumer, an investigation was launched. The products were allegedly purchased in a grocery store.
The suspect and his under-age assistant were suspected of participating in the marketing of these products. The search of the premises led to the seizure of a dozen empty plastic bottles containing the disinfectant alcohol which had caused the death of the victims.
The adult suspect was taken into police custody, while the minor was placed under surveillance for the judicial investigation and forensic examination.
