The messaging app WhatsApp, owned by Meta Platforms Inc, announced the arrival of message editing functionality. This new feature allows users to make corrections or modify their sent messages.
“For the moments when you make a mistake or simply change your mind, you can now edit your sent messages on WhatsApp,” Whatsapp said in a blog post on Monday.
When a message is edited, it will be labeled with the word “edited,” ensuring that the recipients are aware of the change.
“Edited messages will display ‘edited’ alongside them, so those you’re messaging are aware of the correction without showing edit history,” WhatsApp said.
Within the next few weeks, the feature will be gradually introduced worldwide. Users will have the ability to modify their messages within a 15 minutes timeframe from the moment they send the message.
