Walid Regragui, the National Football Team’s coach, has spoken out in defense of player Zakaria Aboukhlal, following recent discrimination allegations that plagued the player.
Aboukhlal is suspected of having been involved in an altercation with Laurence Arribagé, deputy mayor of Toulouse, during the club’s festivities linked to the French Cup victory.
Regragui expressed his surprise and dismay, according to French sports newspaper “L’EQUIPE,” and emphasized Aboukhlal’s character and values, stating that he couldn’t imagine the player being involved in such a situation.
Regragui said Aboukhlal is “a respectful young man with a strong upbringing and genuine values,” which were evident during their time together at the World Cup in Qatar.
The coach further mentioned that he had personally spoken to Aboukhlal, who firmly denied any altercation with the person in question.
