The Moroccan Government and the United Kingdom signed on Tuesday a Strategic Framework for Cooperation on Climate Action, Clean Energy and Green Growth, according to a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Signed by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, and the Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia and the United Nations of the United Kingdom-United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, Lord Ahmad de Wimbledon, the Strategic Framework aims to support, facilitate and strengthen bilateral cooperation on climate action.
It also aims to support Morocco’s development towards a sustainable, low-carbon and resilient economy to ensure a responsible and accelerated transition from fossil fuels to clean and affordable energy.
The agreement also seeks to foster growth of strong economic sectors that free up quality jobs, investment and development in Morocco.
This partnership comes on the sidelines of the 4th session of the Morocco-United Kingdom Strategic Dialogue, co-chaired by Mr. Bourita and Lord Ahmad de Wimbledon, which was officialized by the publication of a Joint Declaration in which both sides welcomed the excellence of bilateral relations and reaffirmed their common desire to further strengthen their Strategic Partnership.
