The 23rd International Festival of African Cinema will be held in Khouribga from May 6 to May 13 of 2023.

The Foundation of African Cinema has named Moroccan actress Salima Ben Moumen, as head of the jury for the festival’s short film category.

Fifteen short films from 13 different nations will compete for the official short film awards in the International Festival.

The foundation established two cultural arbitration committees, one for the National University of Film Clubs in Morocco and the other for African critics, to present the “Don Quixote” prize to Moroccan film clubs and the African Film Criticism prize.

The International African Film Festival is one of the oldest film festivals in Morocco, it has been organized in Khouribga since 1977. The Festival aims to advance African cinema and the film industry and to talk about concerns of global and local cinema.

The Moroccan Festival in Khouribga is the third oldest continental festival after the FESPACO and Carthage festivals.

The International Festival of African Cinema has sought to build connections between these two festivals and the other film events focusing on cinema art on the continent and abroad.
