Elyanna, a Palestinian-Chilean singer known for her mastery of Arabic scales, made history at the Coachella Valley Festival in the US by playing the first all-Arabic language show.
The 21-year-old grew up in Nazareth before moving to Los Angeles, where she began her career and became a prominent name in the Arab music scene.
Elyanna is the first artist to ever perform entirely in Arabic at Coachella, a festival that attracts the world’s biggest artists for two weekends of performances, fun, and desert adventures each year.
Elyanna is a Tiktok sensation, with nearly a million followers. She actively promotes her work on social media, and many of her covers made it to Tiktok trends, earning her global recognition.
To elevate her Coachella performance, the singer shared a snippet from an unreleased “Mawwal,” a type of sung poetry that she incorporates into the majority of her live performances.
She took to Instagram to share her post show feelings, in a caption saying, “There is only the beginning, I’m so grateful to sing my language and bring my culture and music, and my dancing to a festival like Coachella, thank you!”
The comments were flooded with encouragement from several Arab celebrities, such as model and brand owner Karen Wazen, Palestinian singer Saint Levan, makeup brand owner and internet personality Huda Kattan, and more.
At the beginning of her carrier, Elyanna was mentored by the Lebanese Canadian singer Massari and was later signed to Universal Music Group.
She once collaborated with the legendary singer Lana Del Rey, who styled her for a music video, with Lana’s sister, Chuck, directing it.
She draws inspiration from Freddie Mercury, Beyoncé, The Weeknd, and Lebanese singer Fairuz.
The young talent’s performance is trending all over social media.
