One of the three detainees involved in killing a Casablanca policeman committed suicide in his prison cell on Wednesday, announced Sale’s prison authority, stating that his family has been informed.
The now-dead detainee was arrested on March 15 and imprisoned on March 27 after a thorough investigation declaring that he took part in the killing of a policeman, a crime that turned out to be of a terrorist nature.
His victim was a police officer working in the traffic brigade in Casablanca, who disappeared immediately after completing his duties on March 1st, leaving behind a portable functional camera and personal glasses that were found bearing traces of blood.
A charred body inside a sewage canal near the “Al Khadara”’ roundabout on the outskirts of Had Swalem area was found shortly after, later identified to be that of the disappeared policeman.
The Director of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), Habboub Charkaoui held a press conference following the arrest of the three suspects in March, in which he disclosed many details.
The suspects all recently declared their loyalty to ISIS after one of them recited what they believe to be the pledge of presumed allegiance to the body, which confirmed that this is a terrorist crime.
The suspects reportedly intended to travel to the Sahel region to join the terrorist group Daesh but were unable to do so due to a lack of funds.
As a result, they began to plan local terrorist attacks against security personnel, banks, and financial institutions.
The investigation established that the suspects specifically picked a bank, agreed to rob it, and scouted the area around it, proving the existence of a premeditated motive.
