Cameraman Paralyzed After Music Video Shoot Sues French Montana

Carlos Wilkerson Jr., the video director who was left paralyzed after a mass shooting, on January 5, outside of a Miami Gardens restaurant during a video shoot for rapper French Montana has filed a lawsuit against the Moroccan-American rapper as well as the restaurant, the plaza where the shooting took place and Montana’s record label Coke Boys Records.

Wilkerson claims that Montana failed to obtain the required city approvals before filming the video, which would have ensured adequate security and police presence at the site to prevent or deter violence.

“We trusted that our son would be in a safe environment and that didn’t happen… Every day, every hour, every minute it’s a new challenge for him and we’re having to watch it and it hurts. It hurts because we wish we could fix it,” Wilkerson’s mother, Shanta Bonius, said in a news conference Tuesday, “I think the fact that no one has taken ownership for what took place hurts. Most everyone has gone on with their lives since this happened. But we haven’t.”
