The House of Representatives published a report outlining the various advancements made in the work it carried out during the first year of the legislative term 2021–2026, particularly those related to the exercise of its constitutional powers in legislation, oversight and evaluation of public policies.
The report highlighted the presence of parliament officials and the legislative body on social media.
The House of Representatives has been eager to invest in these sites in order to communicate its activities. It created pages on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube between 2013 and 2014, and a page on Instagram in October 2020.
More than 370,000 people follow the Council’s pages, and news about diplomatic ties between the House of Representatives and other nations’ parliaments and international organizations predominates the Council’s publications.
It should be mentioned that the Council just started posting news on its Facebook page not only in Arabic but also in Amazigh, French, and English.
The report covers the House of Representatives’ Partnerships for Open Government Commitments.
The organization took part in the Partnership Initiative for an Open Government in 2019 and created an action plan for the years 2019 through 2021 that detailed its adherence to the initiative’s guidelines.
Before beginning a new action plan, the Board prepared a report at the conclusion of this time period on the results of activating its action plan.
“Through our monitoring of the activities of the House of Representatives, whether on its official website or its pages on social media, we note the absence of joint activities with civil society, with the exception of the communication meeting that the House of Representatives held with civil society organizations regarding its commitments within the framework of the “Partnership Initiative for an Open Government” that was held On Wednesday, June 22, 2022,” noted the report.
