Morocco may replace Ukraine in Spain–Portugal 2030 World Cup bid
Friday 10 March 2023 - 12:30

Morocco can replace Ukraine in the application for the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal, according to the Spanish daily sports newspaper AS.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Portuguese Football Federation are working on the option of including Morocco in the joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup, according to AS.

The reasons for this decision are the destruction of Ukraine’s infrastructure as a result of the war and criminal cases against UAF President Andriy Pavelko.

Spain last hosted the World Cup in 1982 while neighbors Portugal and Morocco have never staged the event although all three countries have the infrastructure and hosted major football tournaments in recent years.
