In just a few hours, Tangier’s Ibn Batouta Stadium will be ready to host the Club World Cup, which will be held in Rabat and Tangier from February 1 to 11.

In recent weeks, work on the expansion of the stadium, including the stands, dressing rooms, pitch, scoreboards and signage, has accelerated to meet the deadline, making it one of Morocco’s largest football stadiums. In a statement to MAP, the director of the stadium under the National Company for stadium construction and management (Sonarges), Anas Jbilou, stressed that the expansion work has increased the capacity of this structure from 45,000 to more than 65,000 seats.

“The stadium will be ready within 24 hours to host the club world cup,” he said, noting that the work went well thanks to the combined efforts of all stakeholders in the project.

The official said that the stadium meets all the standards of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to host international football events.

The Ibn Batouta Stadium has a latest-generation infrastructure that allows it to host the largest events in the best conditions, writes Sonarges on its website, noting that this structure offers real guarantees in terms of quality of reception, comfort and safety for visitors and event organizers.
According to the technical data published by the company, the stadium guarantees the standards regarding the type of grass (natural grass), the intensity of the lighting, the dressing rooms, the screens and the sound system.
MAP has seen the final touches to the stadium and the start of preparations for the opening ceremony of the FIFA Club World Cup, including the installation of lighting and sound systems.
