The Kabyle Football Federation denounced what it described as “unsportsmanlike behavior” during the 2023 African Nations Championship in Algeria.
The federation denounced, in a statement, the intrusion of politics in sports, especially after the exclusion of the Moroccan team from the tournament through “unacceptable means dictated by the Algerian government.”
The same source added that Algeria’s unilateral closure of its airspace since March 2022 resulted in the punishment of the Moroccan selection, which was supposed to defend its title in the tournament.
The Kabyle federation condemned the “racist” practices witnessed during the CHAN opening, and expressed its support to the Moroccan FRMF against Algeria which “failed to properly assume its responsibilities as a host country.”
