Households in the fourth quarter of 2022 were pessimistic about their ability to save over the next 12 months, according to Morocco’s statistics office HCP.

“In the fourth quarter of 2022, 11.1% against 88.9% of households expect to save over the next 12 months,” said the High Commission for Planning (HCP), in an information note on the results of the permanent households’ survey.

The balance of opinion on this indicator remained negative, at -77.8 points instead of -78 points in the previous quarter and -69.5 points in the same quarter of last year, the same source said.

The HCP also indicates that all households (98.9%) say that food prices have increased over the past 12 months. The balance of opinion remained negative, at -98.8 points, after being -99.1 points a quarter earlier and -95.9 points a year earlier.
