The Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development said that thee storage infrastructure and adjoining warehouses were not affected by the fire in Mohammedia on Thursday evening.

In a statement published following the massive fire in a gas truck parking lot at “La Falaise” area in Mohammedia on Thursday, the ministry specifies that the fire broke out in a first propane gas tanker truck at the parking lot, and not in the storage warehouse, subsequently spreading to 4 other tank trucks.

“The material damage mainly concerned the five tanker trucks, in addition to two passenger cars and some damage to the parking lot of tankers,” says the ministry.

The fire was extinguished and controlled on Thursday around 9:00 pm after a nearly three hour intervention, while no fatalities occurred, according to the same source.

The Ministry adds that a joint prefectural commission, made up of representatives of local authorities, bodies and ministerial services concerned, has been set up to investigate the accident, assess the damage and make the necessary decisions and precautions.
