A fire destroyed 42 huts and tents at a migrant camp in Ceuta early Friday, with no injuries reported, Spanish broadcaster Cadena SER said, citing firefighters.

The blaze broke out around midnight near industrial buildings in the Tarajal area, where migrants had erected shelters from wood, cardboard and other materials. Emergency crews evacuated people sleeping nearby and prevented damage to the neighboring buildings.

About 200 people, including families and children, had been staying there for more than a month while awaiting official accommodation, El País reported. Residents included migrants who arrived during the July 30–31 crossings.

Firefighters said a fire lit inside the camp may have spread, but the cause remained under investigation.

The incident followed a reported attack by masked people at the same site Tuesday. According to El País, a 6-year-old boy suffered serious injuries from a pellet gun while sleeping in a tent with his family that night.
