Moroccan Minister of Youth and Culture Mehdi Bensaid presided over a signing ceremony for a partnership agreement between the ministry (MJCC), and the National Museums Foundation (FNF) alongside its president, Mehdi Qotbi, on the preservation of material heritage.

First announced by Bensaid on social media, the agreement’s key points are that the National Institute of Archeology and Heritage Sciences (INSAP) will have training programs and diplomas focusing on museography.

The National Foundation of Museums’ executives will benefit from ongoing training, and the institute will offer international exchange programs, as INSAP students will now be able to visit museums affiliated with the Foundation in order to complete their coursework.

Called a convention of cooperation, the document provided to Hespress EN disposes of 11 articles detailing the details of this partnership.

It is a cooperation agreement for a period of five years, renewable under the terms outlined in the document.

The eighth article stipulates that only after giving six months’ notice and a reasoned report, and without jeopardizing the actions already underway, one of the two parties might cease the application of the agreement.

The agreement may be renewed only by a written agreement and it’s open for changes and additions.

The areas of intervention to reunite MJCC and FNF include joint cultural and scientific actions such as:

– The establishment of museographic training that is accredited by a diploma;

– The provision of ongoing training authorized by certificates;

– Study of museum collections;

– Research and lab examinations of museum collections;

– Dissemination of the results of scientific research to a wide audience;

– Publication of research results;

– The preservation, enhancement, and promotion of unearthed structures;

– The exchange of articles, research data, and documentation;

– Joint organization of cultural and scientific events (conferences, seminars, study trips, exhibitions, etc.).

The agreement declares that the two parties will appoint a select committee to handle the follow-up, mid-term assessment of the results after two years, and revision suggestions.

The financing required to fund the initiatives of the cooperation agreement will be sought by the two parties individually and/or jointly from national or international organizations.

This collaboration will facilitate the ability of the National Institute of Archeology and Assets Sciences and the National Museums Foundation to share knowledge, research findings, discoveries from archaeological excavations, and techniques for conserving and preserving material cultural heritage.
