The Higher Institute of Information and Communication (ISIC) of Rabat is organizing a blood donation event to take place Today, November 30, in collaboration with the Basmati association and the regional and national blood transfusion center.
The event’s slogan is “Come leave your print here,” inspired by the name of the association taking part in its organization, Basmati, which translates into “my print”
The blood donation event will begin this Wednesday at 10 a.m. and will end at 4 p.m.
Imane Mselek Lyam, president of Basmati association, explained how this associative voluntary event and campaign come in recognition of the values of solidarity among students about the need for safe blood and voluntary donation.
Morocco is in desperate need of such initiatives because of the dangerously low blood supply. Following the COVID-19 outbreak in Morocco, blood donations have dropped significantly.
A source working within a blood transfusion facility in Rabat previously told Hespress EN that people are not donating much partially due to emerging worries about viruses.
Katr Annada Elbazi, an ISIC student who donated her blood at the event, explained how her will to give her blood comes from a saddening personal experience.
Her late mother suffered from a terminal illness and struggled to find available blood. Elbazi’s gesture is one of many among donors present at ISIC, Rabat’s school of journalism.
Annada stressed that the blood reserve shortage is a huge issue; she encourages people in good health to donate blood and blood platelets to help those in desperate need.
