Morocco’s airports received a total of 16,546,802 passengers during the first 10 months of this year, a recovery rate of 79% compared to the same period in 2019, according to the National Airports Office (ONDA).
“For cumulative air traffic from January to the end of October 2022, Morocco’s airports continue to show recovery rates in progression compared to the same period of 2019,” ONDA said in a statement, adding a total of 142,284 airport movements across all kingdom’s airports.
During the month of October alone, the airports recorded a volume of commercial traffic of 2,191,055 passengers and 16,845 airport activity movements, representing recovery rates of 101% and 94% respectively compared to the same period in 2019, added the same source.
In detail, Casablanca Mohammed V airport, received 759 360 passengers through 6 084 flights by the end of October, said the same source.
The traffic represents 90% of the air passenger traffic and 80% of the airport movements recorded during the same period in 2019.
Regarding the cumulated air traffic since the beginning of the year 2022, Casablanca Mohammed V airport received 6 176 926 passengers through 54 714 flights, a recovery rate of about 71% for each segment compared to the same period of 2019, specified the same source.
By the end of October, several airports have reached or even exceeded the volume of air passenger traffic recorded during the same period of 2019, added ONDA.
The recovery is consolidated during the first ten months for the airports of the North and Oriental regions, namely Tetouan by 398%, Oujda by 120%, Nador by 110%, and Tangier by 104%, further specified the same source.
Domestic air traffic recorded a recovery rate of 81%, with 221 012 passengers welcomed during the month of October 2022.
International air traffic reached a total of 1,970,043 passengers during the month of October, a recovery rate of 104% compared to the same period in 2019, according to the same source.
