At Marrakech’s bustling Jemaa El Fna square, in an unmatched atmosphere despite the cold settling in, the crowd of the international film festival of Marrakech welcomed Moroccan-Canadian comedian Gad El Maleh.
The event introduced the international star as he made a grand entrance with dance moves and a bright smile.
He spoke of his latest movie, ‘Reste un peu’, written, directed and starring him explaining that it officially premiered in Morocco two days ago as well as France.
The creative is beyond proud to be presenting his movie in his homeland in front of his people.
“It is an enormous honor for me,” said Gad.
He explains that ‘Reste un peu’ starring his parents playing his parents is not a documentary.
“Well ‘Reste un peu’ is about a spiritual quest,” said the director.
As a child who was born in Morocco, and as an artist who has now traveled the world, Gad El Maleh said that tonight, he is tremendously proud to be a Moroccan among Moroccans at the legendary Jemaa El Fna.
On the movie screened at the square, ‘Minions Rise of Gru’, Gad said it’s a movie that he wished to show to Moroccan families because it’s an amazing movie that families could enjoy.
At the screening venue, police reinforced security to ensure that everyone watched the movie safely, and an ambulance on standby was present in case anything happened.
