Government Council Adopts Draft Decree on Protection of Persons Participating in Biomedical Research

The Council of Government adopted, Thursday in Rabat, a draft decree relating to the implementation of the provisions of Law N° 28-13 on the protection of persons participating in biomedical research, while taking into account the remark made about it.

This draft decree, presented by the Minister of Health, aims to determine the procedures for collecting consent from people participating in biomedical research and for recruiting healthy people for biomedical research, in addition to the modalities of compensation, said Saaid Amzazi, spokesperson of the government, in a statement read out during a press briefing held at the end of the weekly cabinet meeting.

The said project also determines the regional committees for the protection of persons participating in biomedical research, their number, the territorial jurisdiction and the seat of each and the composition and the operating methods of these committees as well as the methods of their member designation.

Text No. 2.21.326 also determines the modalities of authorization, suspension and withdrawal of authorizations on biomedical research sites and the modalities of the request for biomedical research authorization and its modification, in addition to the conditions for carrying out biomedical research.
