The Ministry of Transport and Logistics will undertake a series of new measures concerning the acquisition of driving licenses, as part of the 2023 Finance bill draft.
The goal is to reduce the number of accidents across the Kingdom’s roads.
Driving schools will have to comply with new measures aimed at improving the quality of the training provided to future drivers.
Among other measures, the launch of a distance learning platform for drivers, the implementation of a plan to review the management of driving schools, as well as the adoption of adequate legislation.
The Ministry is also planning to add 1,000 new questions to the exam, in addition to the launch of a digital license that includes several pieces of information about drivers.
“Test rooms will be equipped with individual surveillance cameras to prevent cheating,” according to the same source.
Last month alone, traffic accidents took the lives of 14 Moroccans, according to the general directorate of national security (DGSN).
The total of accidents for that period was a whopping 1,544, which left 2,106 people wounded, and 74 severely injured.
Based on a previous press release by DGSN, car accidents are caused nationwide for many reasons, including inadvertence of drivers, failure to respect the right lines, excessive speeding, failure to respect the safety distance between vehicles.
Other reason include change of direction without using a signal, failure to control vehicles, non-respect of the stop sign, unauthorized change of direction, driving in the left lane, non-respect of the red light, driving while intoxicated, to traffic in the wrong direction, among others.
