The Israeli Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Oded Forer, said that there are very great prospects for cooperation with Morocco in the agricultural sector, calling for capitalizing on the advantages offered by the economies of both countries in the sector to establish promising partnerships.
“We are currently working to build on the advantages of both countries in the sector. I recently had discussions by video conference with my Moroccan counterpart, and we discussed the major issues that affect the agricultural sector, as well as the various topics that will be addressed by this conference, which are a source of concern for both countries,” added the Israeli minister at a press conference, Tuesday in Eilat, held after the opening of an international conference on technologies for food production from the sea and the desert.
“I am pleased with the important participation of Morocco in this conference, because Morocco has important experiences from which we can benefit, especially in ocean research,” he said.
He explained that this conference is the first of its kind in the region that suffers from the same problems of climate change, high temperatures and drought, noting that it is an opportunity to address the problems of agriculture and discuss how to ensure food for future generations.
Forer stressed that the whole world is invited to address issues related to food security and the climate crisis, noting that the conference is an opportunity for discussion, participation and partnership among countries in the region to address these issues.
Morocco is represented at this event by Abdelmalek Faraj, director general of the National Institute of Fisheries Research (INRH), Mohamed Idhalla, head of the aquaculture department at the institute, and Majda Maârouf, director of the National Agency for Aquaculture Development (ANDA).
The conference is also attended by more than 70 representatives from several countries, including Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Malta, Ghana, Singapore, Romania, the Netherlands and Australia.
