Stockton, a city in US California now lives in fear due to the murder of 5 men whose death according to the authorities “meets the definition of a serial killer,” U.S media reported.
The five victims were shot in the dark yet were neither robbed nor beaten up prior to their death.
On Monday, The Stockton police department announced on Twitter a $95,000 reward for anyone who could give helpful information on the killer.
“Today a local business owner of a construction company, who wants to remain anonymous, donated $10,000.00 towards the reward for information that leads to an arrest in the homicide series investigation that occurred between July 8th to Sep 27th. The new total is now $95,000.00.” said the tweet.
The police have so far linked two more homicides dating back to 2021 to the 5 homicides that happened between July 8 and September 27.
On their official Facebook page, the police department asked California citizens to avoid isolated areas and travel in well-lit areas.
“We would like to remind everyone to remain vigilant and have good situational awareness,” said the Facebook post.
Stockton police released a blurry picture of an individual dressed in black that they believe is a “person of interest” in this investigation.
Ballistic tests confirmed that the murders are linked.
The latest killing occurred shortly before 2 am on Tuesday, September 27, when a 54-year-old man was shot in a residential area just north of downtown, reported The Guardian.
