Moroccan flag carrier Royal Air Maroc (RAM) announced Saturday evening that its flights to Burkina Faso have been canceled.
“Due to the closure of the air borders in Burkina Faso, our flights from Casablanca to Ouagadougou on October 1 and from Ouagadougou to Casablanca on October 2 are canceled,” RAM wrote on Twitter.
On Saturday, the situation in Ouagadougou was tense, with gunfire and soldiers deployed in the streets, raising fears of clashes between Damiba’s supporters and the country’s new strongmen, according to AFP.
Army officers who seized power in Burkina Faso said in televised comments on Saturday that deposed junta leader Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba was planning a counteroffensive from a “French base,” according to the same source.
