Morocco’s national team tied Tuesday evening with Paraguay 0-0, as part of the last friendly game ahead of the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup.
Having possessed the ball for almost all the game, the Atlas Lions imposed their style of play in exchange for a defensive contraction from the Paraguayan team, which chose to rely on counter-attacks.
Ryan Mmaee missed the first goal of the game with a header after being alone with the opponent’s goalkeeper and receiving a cross from Hakim Ziyech at the start of the second half. He was also on the verge of scoring a goal.
The national team maintained possession of the ball while creating multiple scoring opportunities, but the lack of focus prevented the winning goal from being scored, and the match ended in a goalless draw.
Previously, the Atlas Lions won the friendly game against Chili with a score of 2 to 0 last Friday.
Sofiane Boufal opened the scoring at 66′, followed by Abdelhamid Sabiri’s second game-winning goal at 78′.
The final two friendly games will allow the new national coach to better assess the players ahead of the upcoming sporting event, which is set to kick off on November 20.
