Known for his extraordinary acting skills and ability to morph into specific characters, British actor Tom Hardy won a Jiu Jitsu tournament by displaying his remarkable martial art skills.

On September 17, the actor competed in the UMAC Milton Keynes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Open tournament at the Oakgrove Sports Hall in Milton Keynes in England.

His opponent was too star-struck by Tom’s charisma it was reported by The Direct that the actor told him “Forget it’s me and do what you would normally do.”

Hardy won first place in his division (MALE GI / BLUE / MASTER 3 (41+)). This puts him at a high-level Blue Belt, which is the 2nd ranking color out of five with Black Belt being the highest.

Tom Hardy’s roles normally demand that he gets in shape. His role in Mad Max Fury Road, an action movie that marks the 21st century, required getting very ready for it to display the essence of a loner in the desert, with a gladiatorial warrior aura.

In a Collider interview ahead of filming, Hardy said: “I’m meant to drop 30lbs, so smoking and one meal a day is my training at the moment. I’m going to start fighting soon. The harder stuff, as we get close to the line. I’ll probably get three or four months of fight training out there. Seven days a week. All that kind of horrible shit.”

When he played an MMA fighter in the movie Warrior, despite not having previous martial arts experience, and ended up with a performance of a lifetime.

The actor has bulked up many times to portray villains. In Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises, Hardy became unrecognizable, with the extra weight and a very chunky mask; he became intimidating on and off set.

Hardy’s ability to extremely transform into any role he is given makes him a director’s favorite, he has worked with the biggest of names from Christopher Nolan to Alejandro González Iñárritu and he never disappoints.
