« Rabat, Capital of African culture » (RCAC) festivities carry on as another festival is hosted in Rabat to celebrate African artists.
OLM Souissi welcomes the Grand Concerts of Rabat, where the Mawazine festival was regularly held for years.
This falls under RCAC’s innovative programming, the concerts are free and offer an interesting lineup starting from September 22.
Opening the concert is Manal Benchlikha, followed by Snor.
Snor, a rapper who constantly rose to fame over the past years is mostly known for his song Hkaya. This artist cherishes his anonymity which is why up to this day, his face is unknown to fans.
He wears a hood covering his face in all of his music videos, concerts, and public appearances.
The Moroccan rapper Toto whose real name is Taha Fahssi was chosen by MAP’s journalists as the personality of the year in the “Arts and Culture” category, following his success during this year, as he was the most-streamed Moroccan artist on Spotify, not only in Morocco but in the whole MENA region.
On the 23, Dadju, El Grande Toto, and Ayra Starr will share the stage.
Ayra Starr, a Nigerian singer-songwriter went international with her hit Bloody Samaritan.
She collaborated with Toto on a song called comforter which is expected to be performed in the grand concert.
Dadju is another very famous African artist and having his in-scene to celebrate African culture aligns perfectly with RCAC’s principles.
The celebration of Rabat as the capital of African culture officially launched back in June and was initiated by the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid.
RCAC’s festivities will end in May 2023, concluding a variety of activities like literature, poetry, visual arts, music, theater, film, street arts, dance, digital arts, fashion shows, photography, popular arts, and more.
