The Ministry of Higher Education denied on Thursday, circulating news of an alleged agreement with the Ukrainian authorities for the academic integration of Moroccan students returning from Ukraine.
The Ministry specified that the supposed agreement about the process of academic placement of Moroccan students returning from Ukraine in Moroccan universities in order to complete their education “with the Ukrainian course and for a fee,” is “unfounded fake news.”
“Any updates or notifications related to the issue of Moroccan students returning from Ukraine are published on the Ministry’s official channels, as well as through the public media,” the ministry further specified in its statement.
The Higher Education Minister, Abdellatif Miraoui, has previously met with Moroccan students returning from Ukraine, in order to discuss the process of integration.
The Ministry of High Education agreed with officials at the Ukrainian Embassy in Rabat to provide training for students who will continue their studies remotely at their Ukrainian universities, according to a Hespress source who attended the meeting.
Miraoui also stated that Morocco will recognize those students’ diplomas with no need for equivalence. The Ministry is coordinating with private universities in order to reduce total fees for Ukraine students, stressed the official in a statement to Hespress.
The reduction rate will depend on the income of those students’ families, added the Minister.
The Ministry’s solutions followed a series of several strikes led by the students returning from Ukraine after the ongoing war, asking for their integration into the Moroccan educational system.
