Customs agents of the anti-drug group, in cooperation with the police officers at the Bab Ceuta crossing, managed to seize a significant amount of drugs, during two separate operations, reported MAP.

A customs source stated that the control forces at the Bab Ceuta crossing managed on Friday afternoon to arrest two girls of German nationality, in possession of 42 kilograms of chira in the form of cans, added the same source.

“Customs and police officers detected this quantity of drugs carefully tucked into hollows near the engine of a light car numbered in Germany,” further stated the same source.

In the second operation, in the early hours of Saturday morning, customs and police at Bab Ceuta thwarted an attempt to smuggle 137 kilograms of chira on board a car numbered in Spain.

The same source indicated that a thorough search of a car driven by a Spaniard of Moroccan origin resulted in the discovery of this quantity of drugs hidden under the seats and the sides of the car.

The detainees were referred during the two operations to the judicial police in Tetouan in order to deepen the search under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor.

Customs also seized the quantity of drugs and the two cars pending completion of the investigation procedures.
