The Republic of Cabo Verde opened Tuesday its embassy in Rabat, during a ceremony presided over by the Cape Verdean Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration, Rui Alberto De Figueiredo Soares, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita.

In a statement to the press after the ceremony, Rui Alberto De Figueiredo Soares called the “special and very important moment” the inauguration of this embassy, expressing his thanks to the Moroccan authorities for their collaboration.

This collaboration has made it possible to go very quickly, he said, recalling his visit last June to Morocco during which the announcement was made of the imminent installation of a resident Embassy of the Republic of Cabo Verde in Rabat.

He stressed that this embassy will allow to start a new era in bilateral relations and will offer the opportunity to his country to benefit from the successful Moroccan experience in several areas. “We have much to learn from the successful Moroccan experience in various areas of cooperation,” said the head of Cape Verdean diplomacy.

He also said that his stay in the Kingdom will be marked by the opening Wednesday of a consulate general of his country in Dakhla, as well as it will be an opportunity to discuss with Mr. Bourita the prospects of bilateral cooperation. This embassy intends to develop several activities for the good of bilateral relations.

Recall that in a joint statement issued after his talks last June with Mr. Bourita on the sidelines of the 1st Ministerial Conference of the Atlantic African States, Rui Alberto De Figueiredo Soares had announced the imminent establishment of a resident Embassy of the Republic of Cabo Verde in Rabat.

He had also announced on the same occasion the forthcoming opening of a Consulate General of his country in Dakhla.
