Tangier customs in the Med port have thwarted the process of importing an amount of 66350.00 euros without permission, a customs source told Hespress.

The operation was on board a Mercedes E220 car numbered in Italy, owned by a Moroccan citizen residing abroad.

A customs source explained to Hespress that in addition to the significant euro amount, 3 bank checks were found with a total value of about MAD 300,000.

The Moroccan citizen stated that he possessed 1,500 euros, but a thorough manual search of the car resulted in the discovery of the additional amount of 66,350 euros and unauthorized bank checks, all carefully hidden in the trunk of the car, added the same source.

The concerned individual had been referred to the judicial police in the Tangier Med port in order to deepen the research and reveal more details on the incident, according to the same source.
