Barbie Ferreira, American influencer and actress known for playing Kat in HBO’s Euphoria, announced her departure from the show.

She will not be taking part in the third season, announced the actress on an Instagram story posted on the August 24.

Ferreira is a 25 years old actress who landed the role of Katherine Hernandez, known as Kat, back in 2018.

She played the role for two seasons becoming a fan favorite, due to her enigmatic, smart, and relatable portrayal.

In season two, the fans grew to hate her character because of a very sudden change of personality. She went from a relatable character to a much-hated one.

On her Instagram story, Barbie said: “After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary goodbye. I hope many of you see yourself in her as I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you, Katherine Hernandez.”

After season two, Ferreira was subject to several rumors alleging she had feud with Euphoria’s creator, director, showrunner, and producer, Sam Levinson, over the direction of her character, according to Variety.

This alleged fallout led to her character getting less screen time in season two and to a lot of changes in Kat’s storyline.

On February 4, Euphoria’s Instagram page announced that the show got renewed for a third season.

The rest of the cast, including Dominic Fike, have not confirmed their presence or absence in the upcoming season.
