Morocco’s epidemiological situation has improved during the first week of the interwave period, said Health official Mouad Lemrabet in a recent LinkedIn post.
The positivity rate dropped from 3.2 to 1.8%, and the reproduction rate is 0.85, which is less than 1, specified the Health official.
Additionally, all regions across the country are at the low green level of viral transmission.
The number of new severe cases continues its downward trend with 20 new admissions in intensive care unit during the week 08-14/08/2022, down compared to 61 recorded last week, he further stated.
The number of weekly deaths also dropped, with a total of 12 deaths, the Health official added.
The average age of the recorded deaths is 74 years, with 7 being unvaccinated, 4 receiving only two shots, and 1 getting three shots 7 months ago, he further stated.
This current inter-wave period will be marked by low viral circulation, but to a greater extent than the inter-wave third period, he added.
People who are vulnerable, such as the elderly and those suffering from chronic diseases, are advised to stay up to date on their vaccinations, as another wave is much likely during the winter season.
The Health official also called on people who exhibit virus-like symptoms to isolate themselves, suspend activity, and get tested for appropriate treatment.
