The U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived Wednesday evening in Rwanda’s Kigali as part of his African tour which ends this Thursday.
This is the third stage of the African tour of the head of the American diplomacy, after South Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). In Rwanda, he will meet with senior Rwandan government officials, as well as members of civil society.
Peacekeeping is among the main issues Blinken will discuss with Rwandan officials, including the role Kigali can play in reducing ongoing tensions and violence in the eastern DRC, the report said.
This is the second trip of the head of U.S. diplomacy to sub-Saharan Africa since he took office. Last year, he visited Kenya, Nigeria, and Senegal.
