The number of Maroc Telecom Group customers reached nearly 75 million by the end of June 2022, up 1.9% compared to the same period last year.
A total of 23 million customers are based in Morocco (-0.2%), and nearly 52 million from the Moov Africa subsidiaries (+2.8%), specified the Group in the recent press release.
This increase is mainly driven by the growth of the subsidiaries’ customer base, added the group.
In Morocco, the mobile customer base grew by 0.3% year-on-year to 19.7 million customers, benefiting from a 2.9% increase in the postpaid customer base, added the same source.
Maroc Telecom Group’s achievements in the first half of this year are driven by the good momentum of the Moov Africa subsidiaries’ activities and the constant efforts to optimize costs, despite an inflationary context and a competitive environment that are becoming more and more intense, explained the Group.
The Fixed-line customer base fell by 2.9% year-on-year to almost 2 million at the end of June, while the Broadband customer base reached 1.7 million, with the customer base growing strongly (+45%).
Internationally, the Mobile customer base reached 51,101,000 customers, spread over Burkina Faso (10,870,000), Ivory Coast (10,247,000), Mali (9,157,000), Chad (5,394,000), Benin (5,367,000), Niger (2,975,000), Mauritania (2,726,000), Togo (2,666,000), Gabon (1,484,000) and the Central African Republic (215,000).
The fixed-line customer base also totaled 358,000, including Mali (189,000), Burkina Faso (76,000), Mauritania (57,000) and Gabon (36,000), while the fixed-line broadband customer base reached 150,000, according to the same source.
Maroc Telecom said that it continues to deploy its investment plans in order to effectively support the development of Mobile and Fixed-line Data usage and to pursue innovation and digital transformation projects.
The Group’s strategy is thus part of an inclusive approach to value creation for Maroc Telecom and its ecosystem both in Morocco and in the countries where it operates in Sub-Saharan Africa, according to the same source.
