Moroccan House of Representatives unanimously approved the bill on the 15-day paternity leave on Monday.
This draft law aims to adopt new requirements for the benefit of male employees who have had a child or who have been entrusted with the custody of a child under the age of 14 weeks, and allows for a 15-day paid leave for the new male parents.
This legislation enables the male employee to participate in family life and secure the necessary care for both the mother and child.
As for female employees who have been assigned to care for a child under 24 months of age, they will benefit from a 14-week license, during which the employees will receive their full wages while caring for their child.
Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform Ghita Mezzour confirmed when she introduced the bill that came in fulfillment of the government’s commitment.
This law promotes the desire to enhance the rights of workers, both men, and women, enabling them to reconcile between professional and private life, in accordance with the principle of joint responsibility on which the Moroccan family is based.
