Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Friday Tesla sent a letter to Twitter’s board saying he is terminating the acquisition of the platform.
Musk has repeatedly said the company failed to live up to free speech and was not honest about fake accounts.
It is not clear if Twitter will accept Musk’s $1 billion fee to leave the deal or whether the platform will take him to court for it.
Twitter has committed “a clear material breach” of its “obligations under the merger agreement and Mr. Musk reserves … his right not to consummate the transaction and his right to terminate the merger agreement,” according to a document filed with securities regulators.
