This 2022 Marhaba Operation is expected to receive 490,000 passengers a day, said the Transport and Logistics Minister on Monday’s oral questions session in the House of Councilors.

The 2022 Marhaba Operation launched this Sunday at the Port Tanger Med in good conditions, with the establishment of a special mechanism to welcome Moroccans living abroad.

Additionally, a budget of MAD 150 million has been allocated to prepare the transit operation and ensure fluidity and comfort, through increased capacity of reception, the comfort of travelers, and control, according to MAP.

The Transport and Logistics Minister, Mohammed Abdel Jalil said the ships were mobilized on the maritime links between Morocco, Spain, France, and Italy.

“It is expected that the total weekly capacity of passengers in the two peak periods, namely the beginning and end of the summer vacation, will reach 490,000 passengers, and 135.000 cars, indicating that the number of weekly trips will reach 560 trips,” he estimated.

“The main sea line between Tangier Med and Algeciras port in Spain is expected to provide 45 daily trips, with a capacity of 40,000 passengers and 10,000 cars,” the Transport Minister added.

The same government official said that the European continent tops the list of destinations for Moroccans who will travel to and from the Kingdom, as part of the Marhaba Operation, with over 1,409 weekly flights, equivalent to 85% of total flights.

Morocco has adopted a strategic program spanning 2020-2025, aimed at increasing the capacity of airports, as well as services for both travelers and carriers, concluded the Minister.
