Transport and Logistics Ministry said the National Airports Office’s (ONDA) expectations for the upcoming months indicate that the rate of air traffic in 2022 will reach about 75% of the pre-pandemic period in 2019, reports MAP on Monday.

The Ministry further stated in its press release that 3.2 million passengers were received during the period from February 7 to April 30, 2022, which represents 64% of the air traffic recorded in 2019.

Additionally, the Ministry indicated that 2021 was marked by the reopening of the new air terminal at Nador Airport, which raised its capacity to 2 million passengers annually.

According to ONDA’s outcome, air traffic recorded 9.94 million passengers in 2021, an increase of 39% compared to 2020, and a decrease of 60% compared to 2019.

On the other hand, ONDA continued to implement a number of projects last year, as part of its new strategic program “Takeoff 2025”.

ONDA expected the rate of air traffic recovery to exceed 100% for several airports, including Tangier (104%), Nador (104%), Al Hoceima (106 %), Oujda (108%), and Tetouan (53%), according to its recent press release.
