The coronavirus pandemic is far from over, Bill Gates has warned, saying there could still be a variant that is “even more transmissive and even more fatal.”

Microsoft billionaire said, in a recent interview with The Financial Times, that there is a “way above five percent” risk of pandemic generating more transmissive than Coronavirus variant.

“We’re still at risk of this pandemic generating a variant that would be even more transmissive and even more fatal,” he said, adding that longer-lasting vaccines which block infection are urgently required.

The tech boss gave a speech in 2015 claiming that the world was “not ready for the next epidemic” and said that viruses posed the greatest threat to humans.
