Ouarzazate Airport received a total of 8,444 passengers during the period from February 7 to March 31, according to data from the National Office of Airports (ONDA).

This volume of passenger traffic represents a recovery rate of 53% compared to the same period of 2019 (15,916 passengers), said ONDA.

During the last month, Ouarzazate airport welcomed 6,474 passengers through 104 flights.

This volume of commercial traffic represents a recovery rate of 66% for passengers and 78% for airport activity, compared to pre-covid period in March 2019.

Overall, the country’s airports welcomed 2,228,723 passengers through 21,330 air flights, during the period from February 7 to March 31, 2022.

During the same period, Moroccan airports recorded a commercial traffic volume of 1,452,030 passengers and 13,543 flights, a recovery rate compared to the same period of the year 2019 of 70% for passengers and 80% for airport movements.

Out of the country’s 26 airports, only 17 airports witnessed activity since the reopening of air borders on February 7, added ONDA.

Recently, Morocco’s National Airports Office (ONDA) said it expects a rebound in air travel this year, after two years of border closures due to COVID-related concerns.

“The predicted average recovery rate of passenger traffic in Morocco’s airports, compared to 2019, is 75%,” the ONDA said in a recent press release, estimating that the introduction of many airlines will boost activity.
