Over 15,000 Israeli tourists are expected to visit Morocco to celebrate Passover, announced Deputy Chief of Mission of Israel in Morocco, Eyal David on his Twitter account.
Passover is taking place for the period from April 5 to 23.
“Israeli tourists will come to enjoy their vacation this year with their families in Morocco,” he added in the same Tweet.
“We are looking forward to receiving further tourists next summer,” he said, adding, “ to strengthen our relations in this field, which is flourishing between both countries, we were pleased to meet the first Moroccan tourist attache, who will be settling in Tel Aviv soon.”
Earlier this month, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) said that direct flights between Israel and Morocco will amount to 8 a week, in a move to bring up total Israeli tourists to 200,000.
On March 13, the first RAM flight took off from Morocco’s economic capital Casablanca in destination to Tel Aviv, which was delayed by 3 months because of Covid-related worries.
A delegation from the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), comprising businessmen and investors visited Israel through that flight, opening direct flights between both destinations.
The strengthening of diplomatic ties between both countries is the fruit of the trilateral agreement, involving the US in December 2020.
