As part of the African Union’s Peace and Security Council (PSC), Morocco stressed the necessity of establishing an inter-African cooperation mechanism, aiming to strengthen the early continental warning system as a pillar of the security architecture of Africa.

Morocco’s permanent Ambassador to the African Union, Mohamed Arrouchi, who spoke at the PSC meeting on the theme “Continental early warning and security prospects on the continent,” highlighted the multidimensional approach of the Kingdom in the fight against threats to peace and security in Africa and underlined the imperative of inter-African cooperation to guarantee peace and security for the whole continent.

In light of the terrorist threats facing the African continent, the diplomat leading the Moroccan delegation further explained the multidimensional approach advocated by Morocco in the fight against terrorism and violent extremism, based in particular on human and socio-economic development, a proactive and preventive security strategy, as well as the reorganization of the religious field.

Faced with the complex peace and security challenges covering a large part of Africa, the Moroccan delegation stressed the imperative of close and active cooperation, reiterating the Kingdom’s commitment to capitalizing on its expertise and active role within the multilateral system to give a new push to African counter-terrorism efforts and advance the African peace and security agenda.
