The first edition of the Saudi-Moroccan political consultations will be launched in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, this upcoming Tuesday, which will address, for two days, several bilateral and regional issues of common interest.

According to the Moroccan Embassy in Riyadh, these political consultations, at the meetings of which Morocco will be represented by directors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad, will also focus on the preparations for the next Moroccan-Saudi Joint Commission that will take place in June, in Morocco.

The same source added that Morocco and Saudi Arabia have agreed to establish political consultations between the two countries in 2007, whose first session will be held tomorrow.

Morocco and Saudi Arabia have continuously maintained good diplomatic relations. Saudi Arabia had reiterated its support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty last year before the UN, all while endorsing Morocco’s autonomy plan for Western Sahara.

Saudi Arabia is joined by several countries in the Middle East and North Africa region that have expressed support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Senegal, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
