In a recently held meeting by the Moroccan Employers Union (CGEM), Youssef Chraibi, President of the Moroccan Federation of Outsourcing Services, disclosed some crucial numbers about the outsourcing sector: it employs more than 130,000 people (with an addition of more than 10,000 yearly). It also generates not less than $1.4B in export sales.

According to Chraibi, the sector proved to be highly resilient during the covid-19 pandemic and the measures and lockdowns that resulted from it. Morocco is undoubtedly the sector’s leader in the French-speaking world, he added.

Ghita Lahlou, Vice President of CGEM, emphasized the necessity to further develop the outsourcing service industry in Morocco, following the New Development Model, by adopting a productive and diversified economy.

She added that Morocco is well poised to become one of the top offshore destinations globally, with the objective of attracting 10% of Foreign Direct Investment and training 50,000 people in outsourcing jobs by 2035.

The practice of outsourcing is prevalent in most companies, and, thanks to the internet’s technological developments, the most challenging and demanding jobs can now be outsourced.

Outsourcing also has the merit of being very cost-effective as it enables companies to solve the most severe staffing problems. In addition, through outsourcing, companies can focus on their core business while at the same time having access to a global knowledge database and services that might not be available or affordable in Morocco.

The most outsourced services in Morocco include IT, HR, Customer Service, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO).
