Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged NATO to provide Ukraine with “Unrestricted military assistance” as a response to Russia’s offensives “In order to save the people and our cities.”
He spoke at a video conference recorded in the dark, proximate to the presidential offices in Kyiv.
Zelensky implored the world’s leaders for further military assistance to help Ukraine fight against Russia in its fight “under unequal conditions.”
The video clip, posted on Zelensky’s Telegram account, shows the Ukrainian President making an urgent appeal while the war devastates the country after entering its second month.
“So far we have not received a single plane” from NATO, “You have at least 20,000 tanks. Ukraine is asking for 500. From all of your tanks, just 500 — give them to us, sell them to us. So far, we have not got a clear answer,” said Zelensky addressing the leaders of NATO member states, which are meeting at an extraordinary summit in Brussels.
While the Ukrainian President admitted that his country was not a member of NATO as it is in “Some gray zone” between the West and Russia, he recalled that Ukraine has fought for its common values with the organization, particularly against invasions.
Zelensky continued, “You can see the consequences today, the number of people killed, the number of peaceful cities ruined,” insisting, “We are on unequal terms for over a month.”
On the same occasion, the Ukrainian leader invited people worldwide to gather in public Thursday to demonstrate support for Ukraine, saying, “Come to your squares, your streets. Make yourselves visible and heard.”
“Say that people matter, freedom matters, peace matters, Ukraine matters,” he continued in English.
