The opening session of Arab Ministers of Foreign Affairs was marked by the presence of the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, who made a presentation on the current situation of the UN agency and the deficit it suffers, calling on Arab countries and donors to provide more support to enable UNRWA to continue to provide its services to the Palestinians.

At this session, the Arab foreign ministers will discuss 11 items dealing with the various issues of joint Arab action in the political, economic, social, security, financial and administrative fields, headed by the report of the Secretary-General between the last two sessions and the preparation of the next Arab summit.
