The number of passengers carried by the National Railways Office (ONCF) reached 34.4 million in 2021, compared to 21.1 million a year earlier.

In the fourth quarter of 2021, the number of passengers transported amounted to 9.6 million people, up 31% compared to Q4-2020, said the Office in a statement on its financial indicators.

This improvement is mainly due to “the resumption of traffic following the lifting of travel restrictions decreed by the competent authorities,” said the same source.

In Q4-2021, freight transport has recorded an improvement of 30% compared to Q4-2020, while the transport of phosphates has declined by 6%.
