Car sales in Morocco achieved growth in turnover for 2021, despite supply chain problems driven by Covid-19, according to the results published by a number of Moroccan companies listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange,

Auto Hall group, which markets a number of new car brands, recorded a turnover of about 3.8 billion dirhams in 2021, compared to 3.1 billion dirhams in 2020,  a growth of 21%.

The number of vehicles sold by the group in 2021 amounted to about 25,371 vehicles, compared to 20,875 cars in 2020, an increase of 22 percent.

The company said, in a comment on its financial results, that “the car market, which was affected by the Coronavirus pandemic in March 2020, recorded a return to growth of about 6 percent in 2021 compared to 2019, and 32 percent compared to the year 2020.”

The company, which markets brands such as “Nissan”,  and “Ford”, stated that the new car market in Morocco recorded a decline in the last quarter of last year due to the disruption in global production of cars in the wake of the lack of production of electronic chips.

Likewise, Auto Nejma achieved a turnover of 2.3 billion dirhams at the end of 2021, compared to 2.2 billion dirhams in 2020.

The company, which markets brands including Mercedes sold about 3,546 cars in 2021, compared to 3,492 cars in 2020.

The Moroccan company stated that it will continue to open new sales points to promote a number of electric cars in the Kingdom.

Sales of new cars in Morocco amounted to 175,360 units in 2021, up 5.7% compared to 2019, the Association of Importers of Motor Vehicles in Morocco (AIVAM) previously announced.

AIVAM predicts that in 2022 for car sales to record a growth ranging from 5% to 15%, depending on the availability of stocks, and post Covid-19 recovery.
